At the heart of the upgrade is the migration of the backend database system. As a result, the repository responds noticeably faster and offers an improved user experience for managing, archiving, and publishing research data.

ReSeeD supports researchers at Ruhr University Bochum in storing, sharing, archiving, and publishing their research data. With the new version, users benefit from higher performance and an even more user-friendly experience when using the repository.

The fact that ReSeeD is also suitable for particularly large research datasets is demonstrated by previously published datasets in the multi-terabyte range. One example is the dataset Earthquake Catalog and Continuous Waveforms from a Two-Week Distributed Acoustic Sensing Experiment on Kefalonia Island, Greece by Bocchini et al. (2025), which comprises several terabytes of research data (DOI: https://doi.org/10.60517/cv43p1601). Research consortia at RUB also use ReSeeD to publish their data. In cooperation with Collaborative Research Center 1280 “Extinction Learning,” a data model including a metadata standard was implemented in ReSeeD, which is now also used for data publication, e.g., A three-day 7T fMRI study of Fear Conditioning, Extinction, and Recall in healthy adults aged 20–35 years by Nio et al. (2026) (DOI: https://doi.org/10.60517/1831cq60q).

The further development of ReSeeD is ongoing in collaboration with researchers at RUB. Currently, the RDS is working together with Collaborative Research Center 1316 “Transient Atmospheric Plasmas: From Plasmas to Liquids to Solids” on the implementation of a subject-specific metadata standard. In addition, further options for supporting the management and reuse of research data in ReSeeD are being considered, such as REST API and improved versioning.

Haven’t visited ReSeeD in a while? Then it’s worth taking another look now.

Text: © RUB, Pacharra & Fiene

Die Research Data Services (RDS) haben das Upgrade von ReSeeD auf Version 2 erfolgreich abgeschlossen.
