Versioning with GItlab

To maintain an overview of the processing stages of research data, as well as codes and scripts, the software Gitlab is suitable for version control.

...every change to versioned files is logged, making changes traceable.
...the entire history of changes can be searched, and any previous version can be restored.
..is particularly well-suited for text-format files but can generally be used for all file formats.
