RDM network of RUB

What is the RDM network?

The RDM network is a university-wide initiative of the Ruhr University Bochum coordinated by the Research Data Services (RDS) team. It is aimed specifically at people who are already intensively involved in research data management (RDM) or are planning to do so in the near future - for example as data stewards or as scientific or technical staff responsible for RDM in projects.

Our goals

The aim of the network is to bring together existing expertise, strengthen the exchange between these stakeholders as well as with the RDS team and thus jointly promote the further development of RDM structures of the RUB.

The network focuses on the following areas in particular:

• Networking and exchange among RDM stakeholders within the RUB research community and with service facilities, e.g. through regular meetings and digital formats.
• Transparency of RDM requirements and existing competencies: Making expertise, experience and needs transparent and visible across RUB in order to create synergies.
• Strengthen the visibility of the RDM both within RUB and externally.
• Participation in the further development of central infrastructures in close cooperation with the RDS team and other relevant stakeholders.

Who is the network for?

The FDM network is aimed in particular at:

• Data Stewards & technical experts who provide operational support for RDM processes.
• Researchers of all career levels who coordinate and further develop RDM in their projects. 
• Scientific coordinators & project managers who take on strategic RDM tasks.
• And to all those who actively shape RDM structures and services at RUB.

New participants are always welcome. The network meets quarterly—the next meeting will take place on  17 March 2026 . The meeting will focus on the exchange of information and experience on RDM Workflows  .
